CareerSource Florida Celebrates 25 Years of Helping Businesses Grow through Quick Response Training #EconDevWeek #EDW2018

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (5/9/18) – CareerSource Florida is celebrating 25 years of helping nearly 140,000 workers connect to good jobs and enhance their value to their employers through Florida’s Quick Response Training grant program. Quick Response Training provides grants for customized, skills-based curriculum development and training to new or expanding businesses in qualified industries.
“Over the past 25 years, Quick Response Training grants have helped Florida retain and attract hundreds of businesses that have created new, high-wage jobs and changed lives for the better,” said CareerSource Florida President and CEO Michelle Dennard. “This business-driven grant program has grown itself over the years, evolving to keep pace with industry needs and ensure thousands of newly hired employees have access to leading-edge instruction and technology.”
Quick Response Training is recognized as an important contributor to Florida’s economic success. A Florida competitiveness study noted economic developers across the state cited Quick Response Training as the No. 1 program with the largest impact on their ability to win multi-state competitive projects.
Since its inception in 1993, the Quick Response Training program has supported training for at least 139,463 workers at more than 600 businesses through nearly $160 million in grants. ActivEngage, a Florida-based company that provides live chat services for customers of automotive businesses, is among companies that recently received a Quick Response Training grant to strengthen employees’ skills.
