President Barack Obama Endorses Hillary Clinton for President: ‘I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office’
President Barack Obama has officially weighed in on the 2016 presidential election, appearing in a video announcing his support for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
In a video that Clinton posted to her campaign website and YouTube page, the president praises Clinton for her hard work and dedication.
“I know how hard this job can be. That’s why I know HIllary will be so good at it,” Obama says. “I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office. She’s got the courage, the compassion and the heart to get the job done.”
“I’m with her!” Obama adds emphatically. “I am fired up and I cannot wait to get out there and campaign for Hillary.”
True to his own words, shortly after the video started circulating, Clinton’s campaign sent out a press release, indicating that Obama will be campaigning with the presumptive nominee in Green Bay, Wis. on June 15.
Just before the big announcement, Obama had a meeting with Democratic candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders. Sanders at that time, was still adamant about remaining in the race, but also mentioned that he looked forward to working with Clinton to make sure that presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump does not become president.
“I look forward to meeting with (Clinton) in the near future to see how we can work together to defeat Donald Trump and to create a government which represents all of us and not just the 1 percent,” Sanders told reporters, according to CNN.
