Rattlers Striking in the Harbor (Baltimore)
Streaming live from Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, May 26, 2017, FAMUans in attendance and around the world were challenged to dig deep and make giving back to FAMU a top priority. The annual fundraising breakfast held each year during the National Alumni Association Conference is where chapters and alumni are asked to support the University via scholarship giving (restricted/unrestricted) and other programs of choice.
The day before, Lt. Col Gregory Clark, president of the FAMU National Alumni Association joined Roland Martin on NewsOne Now to discuss the need for alumni to give back to their alma maters and how FAMU alumni remain committed to answering this call. Alumni percentage giving is just one measure of the health of an institution. Another cited reason is that it is a way of “paying it forward by supporting future generations of students and scholars. Regular contributions make a big difference to the operating budget and this helps sustain regular programs and initiatives. Alumni’s giving is an important lifeline of a University no matter how small – GIVE BACK! The interview can be seen via the website below.
During the live streaming President Art Edwards presented, to the restricted scholarship fund, an $8,500 check earmarked for selected Brevard County Students. Another $1,700 check was given to the Save Our Students Program and a $1,800 check to Athletics.
