The Sarasota (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. took home top honors during the 75th Southern Province Council meeting, held March 27–30 in Jacksonville, Florida. Competing among chapters across a broad region—including Alabama, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Florida, Panama and the U.S. Virgin Islands—the Sarasota Alumni Chapter earned three prestigious awards: Chapter of the Year, Community Service Chapter of the Year, and Website of the Year.
In addition to the chapter’s accolades, Tim Dawkins, who serves as the Achievement Committee Chair for the Southern Province, was recognized with an Achievement Award for his exemplary service under six Province Polemarchs.
These honors position the Sarasota Alumni Chapter for even greater recognition at the national level. They are now eligible to apply for the Paul W. Caine Alumni Chapter of the Year Award, the highest distinction bestowed upon alumni chapters by the Grand Chapter. The chapter will also compete for Website of the Year honors. Winners will be announced at the 87th Grand Chapter Meeting, scheduled to take place this July in Phoenix, Arizona.
Founded on January 5, 1911, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is a historically African American fraternity with a mission to provide community service, promote youth development, and cultivate leadership while fostering a culture of achievement among its members and the communities they serve.
