Cocoa, FL – The Brevard County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of the Black community by hosting a comprehensive Black Family Wellness Expo on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The event took place at the Joe Lee Smith Recreation Center in Cocoa and brought together a diverse array of exhibitors, vendors, and community partners from across Brevard County.

This impactful Health Fair was a tangible expression of The Links’ dedication to its five program facets, particularly the Health and Human Services (HHS) facet. Established to address the persistent chronic health disparities that disproportionately affect Black communities and contribute to decreased life expectancy, the HHS facet aims to promote good health and eliminate these disparities through education, advocacy, and improved access to health resources.

A representative from the Brevard County Chapter of The Links emphasized the critical role of community education in mitigating health risks, stating, “The Links, Incorporated recognizes the vital importance of providing accessible and relevant health information to our community. The Black Family Wellness Expo is just one example of our proactive efforts to empower individuals and families to make informed decisions about their health.”
The well-attended event provided a valuable platform for community members to connect with healthcare providers, learn about vital health resources, and engage in discussions focused on improving overall wellness. The presence of numerous exhibitors and vendors underscored the collaborative spirit of the event, highlighting the collective commitment within Brevard County to address health equity.

Attendees received valuable information on topics ranging from preventative screenings to mental health, nutrition, physical activity, and disease management. The event not only underscored the importance of access to healthcare but also highlighted the power of community-based solutions in promoting health equity.

The success of the Black Family Wellness Expo further solidifies The Links, Incorporated’s significant role in community outreach and its unwavering dedication to fostering healthier futures for Black families in Brevard County.
