City of Cocoa Appoints New Assistant Fire Chief Roderick Moore

Nationally Certified Fire and EMS Leader Brings Decades of Operational Excellence and Strategic Vision

The City of Cocoa Fire Rescue proudly announces the appointment of Roderick Moore as its new Assistant Fire Chief. With over 31 years of dedicated service with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD), Chief Moore brings extensive experience in rescue, training, emergency management, and fire suppression.

Rising through the ranks from Firefighter to Captain, Moore has consistently demonstrated leadership, innovation, and a deep understanding of departmental needs. His work has significantly enhanced community services through improved operational techniques and training.

Moore holds a Firefighter Certification from Florida Community College at Jacksonville, a Paramedic Certification, a B.A. in Public Administration from Flagler College, and a Master of Public Administration from Barry University. He is highly skilled in Incident Command, hazardous materials management, fire suppression tactics, and personnel training.

Following his initial retirement in 2020, Moore returned to serve as Deputy Fire Chief for Haines City Fire Department in 2021, where he led department operations, recruitment, fire prevention, and ISO coordination. He is also a certified CPR/First Aid and ACLS instructor and has provided life-saving training to both professionals and the public through community outreach.

An accomplished grant writer, Moore has secured critical funding for equipment upgrades, station renovations, and advanced training programs. His background in construction compliance and fire code regulations further enhances his ability to support modern fire suppression efforts.

“Roderick Moore’s combination of hands-on experience and strong academic background makes him an invaluable asset to our department and community,” said Cocoa Fire Chief Lamm. “We are excited to welcome him to this new leadership role.”
