Black Jeopardy Challenge Celebrates Juneteenth Through Education, Culture and Competition
COCOA, FL — As communities across America prepare to celebrate Juneteenth, a special educational and cultural event is being organized to honor African American history, achievement, and excellence through fun, learning, and friendly competition.
Juneteenth, now recognized as a federal holiday, commemorates June 19, 1865 — the day federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, announcing freedom for enslaved African Americans more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. The holiday stands as a powerful reminder of resilience, progress, and the enduring contributions African Americans have made to the nation.
In celebration of this historic occasion, MY Medical Inc. is inviting students, families, and community members to participate in the Black Jeopardy Challenge, scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the Eastern Florida State College Cocoa Campus.
The Black Jeopardy Challenge is designed to educate participants about the countless contributions African Americans have made throughout history in areas such as science, business, education, entertainment, sports, ministry, military service, medicine, and innovation.
Organizers say the event is more than just a game — it is an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to learn about the individuals and achievements that helped shape America into a global influence.
“Before that day and since that day, African American people have been constantly innovating, creating, educating, and improving,” organizers stated. “The Black Jeopardy Challenge is a great way for everyone to learn of the accomplishments that have helped make America great — then and now.”
The curriculum for the competition is being released this week. Teams are now forming for students in grades 5 through 9, as well as high school and adult divisions. Registration is $50 per team.
Participants and coaches interested in joining the competition can contact MY Medical Inc. by email at mymedicalinc2012@gmail.com or by calling 321-307-3963. Organizers say curriculum links will be sent within 24 hours of contact.
Community members who wish to attend and support the teams are also encouraged to participate. Admission for adults age 21 and older is $5.
In addition to the competition, attendees can enjoy snacks, food, prizes, and community fellowship. Door prizes will include hotel stays, gift baskets, and other valuable items.
Winning teams will also receive cash awards:
- First Place: $100 for each team member and coach
- Second Place: $75
- Third Place: $25
Doors will open at 11 a.m., and the competition will begin promptly at noon.
Organizers hope the event will inspire youth and adults alike to celebrate Black history, embrace cultural pride, and continue building a legacy of excellence.
The theme for the event is:

“Where Fun Meets Legacy.”
