The National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Brevard Section Announces the 2021-2022 Scholarship

The National Council of Negro Women Inc, Brevard Section, is excited to announce it’s 2022 Scholarship!   As an organization founded by educator and activist Dr. Mary McCleod Bethune, NCNW is dedicated to education, critical community concerns and civic engagement. The NCNW Brevard section was chartered on March 27, 2020, and quickly began working towards the mission, to lead advocate for and empower women of African descent, their families, and communities.

We are proud to announce NCNW Brevard established a scholarship during its first year as a section.  On May 23, 2021, the section held its first awards ceremony.  The virtual event was held via zoom and included the section celebrating and awarding two of Brevard County’s exemplary graduating seniors, Arianna Nicolas and Faith Rose, with financial scholarships in the amount of $500 each.

The section’s president Tabitha Hadley provided an overview of the organization as well as the section, while the section’s scholarship chair Andrea Scott highlighted the accomplishments of the two awardees.  Each awardee addressed the virtual audience and shared their accomplishments as High School Seniors as well as their college plans.

Arianna Nicolas attended Melbourne High School and now attends the University of Miami. As a senior she completed 150 hours of community service and received the following honors:

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma
    • National Honors Society
    • Science Honors Society
    • French Honors Society

Faith Rose attended Heritage High School and was dually enrolled at Eastern Florida State College.  She also now attends the University of Miami.  As a senior she completed 122 hours of community service and received the following honors:

  • Highest Honors with Distinction
    • National Society of High School Scholars
    • Cambridge Program
    • Presidential Scholar University of Miami
    • Dean’s List Eastern Florida State College
    • Florida Today Top Scholar

The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. Brevard section congratulates the 2020-2021 inaugural scholarship recipients and wishes them continued success!
